German Government Establishes NOW Email this article

The German National Innovation Programme (NIP) hydrogen and fuel cell technology has been established by representatives from politics, science and industry to prepare the market for hydrogen and fuel cell applications.

The NOW organization focuses on concrete initiatives and appropriate measures for the sectors: Traffic, Hydrogen Infrastructure, Stationary Energy, and "Special Markets".

The 10-year programme combines focused research and development efforts and extensive demonstration projects.

In order to coordinate and control the implementation of the NIP, the German Government has established the NOW the National Organization Ltd. hydrogen and fuel cell technology, based in Berlin.

According to the press release, the program embodies a new form of a public private partnership encompassing activities of actors from the political, scientific and industries to a total program together.

Shareholders of NOW GmbH is the federal government represented by the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS).

Dr. Klaus Bonhoff and Kai Klinder are appointed directors of NOW Ltd.
